Reflecting Purdue University’s intercollegiate
athletic program in a favorable light, servicing media
requests, and disseminating accurate information about
Purdue sports are among the roles assigned to the Sports
Information Office.
The office is responsible for hosting media at events, press box and press row operation, internal and external public relations, television and radio tapes, news releases, overseeing the athletic department’s Web site, maintaining historical records and related publications, programming and game-day operation of electronic scoreboards and JumboTron, and the editing and distribution of brochures, yearbooks, and newsletters. The staff also coordinates game/event broadcasts and reports (volleyball, women’s basketball, baseball, and softball), as well as coaches’ shows on local radio and television outlets.
From the office in Mackey Arena, Room 15, the staff provides advance game information, play-by-play reports, statistics, coaches’ quotes, and medical reports for all Boilermaker intercollegiate teams. |
