The West Lafayette campus has 164 major buildings and 223 other buildings, for a total of 387 buildings. The oldest is University Hall, built in 1877. Less than one-half
of the cost of campus buildings has been furnished by
the state of Indiana. Other funds come from bond issues,
gifts, earnings, and federal government grants.
