Requirements: The Department of Comparative Pathobiology at Purdue University (www.vet.purdue.edu/ppb) invites applications for an academic-year, tenure-track faculty position in microbiology. Responsibilities of the position include teaching microbiology (lecture and laboratory) in the professional veterinary curriculum and development of an extramurally funded research program.
The Department of Comparative Pathobiology has 41 faculty members and approximately 50 graduate students. Faculty has expertise and research interest in microbiology, virology, immunology, vaccine development, parasitology, pathology, public health, and epidemiology. The School of Veterinary Medicine has a strong focus on comparative medicine and offers research support laboratories in the Medical Discovery Resource Unit (http://www.vet.purdue.edu/mdru/).

Requirements: The Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants for a full-time academic year tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, depending on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. and relevant post-doctoral experience in eth area of bone/cartilage/joint biology and /or musculoskeletal disease. Preference will be given to individuals who also hold a D.V. M. (or equivalent) or M.D. degree. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally-funded research program and participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative research programs that have an emphasis on animal models of disease and translational research. Faculty at Purdue have a long history of collaboration with the biomedical device and orthopedics industries and the candidate will have the opportunity to work with established research programs with links to those industries. Faculty in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences participates in cross-campus interdisciplinary programs such as the NCI supported Center for Cancer Research, Biomedical Engineering (Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic Innovation Program), and various research centers in Discovery Park. The applicant will be a member of the Medical Discovery Resource Unit which is a core facility for Purdue University and also for the new NCRR Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Hayward Endowed Chair in Comparative Genomics (002122-2008)

The Department of Comparative Pathobiology in the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for the Hayward Endowed Chair in Comparative Genomics from individuals with an established record of scholarship in comparative genomics and genomic approaches to disease prevention. This is a nine-month academic year appointment.
Requirements: The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain an interdisciplinary and extramurally funded research program in comparative genomics. They will also be expected to contribute to the professional veterinary and graduate programs by offering a course or field experience in their area of expertise. They should have a commitment to the educational and outreach missions of the University.
Qualifications: Candidate should have a PhD, DVM, and/or MD or equivalent degrees and a successful record of scholarship and extramural research funding in comparative genomics and genomics to disease prevention. Individuals with expertise in the areas of animal models of cancer, immunogenetics related to cancer, and environment-gene interactions in the eliology of cancer are especially invited to apply.

Tenure Track Dairy Production Medicine Veterinarian (002089-2008)

The Purdue University, School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications for a full-time (12 month) tenure-track faculty position in Dairy Production Medicine at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will join a school that is highly supportive of individual professional interests, career growth, and success.
Requirements: Shared teaching of veterinary, graduate and undergraduate students in didactic, laboratory and field settings. The primary responsibility will be to create on-farm teaching opportunities in clinical medicine and dairy production. The successful applicant will be expected to become an active member of the Dairy Extension Team at Purdue University. Scholarship as a primary investigator or collaborator in discovery or learning is required. The successful applicant will share food animal emergency duties with other ambulatory clinicians.

Veterinary Medical Oncologist (001995-2008)

The Purdue University, School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications for a full-time (12 month) tenure-track faculty position in veterinary medical oncology. The successful candidate will join a Comparative Oncology Program (www.vet.purdue.edu/pcop/ ) that is well integrated in the School of Veterinary Medicine, the Purdue Cancer Center (www.cancer.purdue.edu ), and the Oncological Sciences Center in Purdue’s Discovery Park.
Responsibilities: Participation in clinical or laboratory investigation as a principal investigator or strong collaborator; teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents; clinical service in the Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and service to the School in committee work. Research is a required component of this position; however, the percentage time spent in research will depend on the successful applicant’s interest as well as goals of the school

Veterinary Pathologist (001981-2008)

The Animal Disease and Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) and the Department of Comparative Pathobiology (CPB) in the School of Veterinary Medicine of Purdue University are seeking to employ a veterinary pathologist in either a tenure track or clinical track appointment.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the position include: performing and supervising gross and microscopic examinations and interpretations on a variety of mammalian species; coordination of ancillary diagnostic testing; communication of results to referring veterinarians and animal owners; and teaching diagnostic pathology to graduate students/residents and veterinary students.
Qualifications: The successful candidate should be eligible for certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, a diplomat of the ACVP or equivalent certification by examination body and have excellent documented skills in written and oral communication. Experience and demonstrated interest in veterinary diagnostics and production animal agriculture is essential.

The successful candidate will join our board-eligible Neurologist, and become part of a new and developing neurology program that will ultimately include three neurologists. The Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital has excellent facilities and equipment including on-site helical CT, a linear accelerator, a Caldwell Sierra Wave electrodiagnostic machine, and access to an off-site MRI. A 3.0 Tesla MRI, located in Purdue’s Research Park, is also on schedule to be
regularly
available for use beginning summer 2007.
Requirements: Teaching veterinary students, interns and residents in didactic, laboratory and veterinary teaching hospital settings. Scholarly activity as a collaborator or primary investigator in the fields of clinical investigations, basic science, or teaching is expected.

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Purdue University is seeking qualified applicants eager to accept a faculty position in radiation oncology. The successful candidate will become an integral member of the radiation therapy facility at Purdue University. We have created a unique opportunity because the pool of individuals with radiation therapy training is limited. The successful candidate for the radiation oncology faculty position will receive fellowship support during completion of his/her residency training in radiation oncology. Following completion of the radiation oncology residency the successful candidate will become a regular tenure-track faculty member in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University.
Requirements: The responsibilities of the tenure track Assistant Professor appointment include direct participation in the radiation oncology service, instruction of students and house officers, and scholarship.
Qualifications: A DVM degree or equivalent plus completion of a residency approved by the ACVIM or The ACVS or equivalent experience.
