Purdue is a land-grant university and member of the Big Ten Conference, with a student population of 39,500. Purdue has the second largest international student population among US public universities, and has defined further globalization through international research and instructional collaborations as a strategic goal.
Requirements: Administration of a department comprising approximately forty-five faculty members and more than one hundred lecturers and graduate assistants, which grants undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in French, German, Japanese, Second Language Acquisition, and Spanish, and offers undergraduate programs in Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, and Russian. The Department Head has leadership responsibility for recruiting and retaining departmental personnel, including in the process of promotion and tenure, for allocating the departmental budget, and for representing the department to the office of the dean and the council of department heads. The Head regularly teaches a course in one of the foreign languages mentioned above. The Department Head is appointed by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and reports to the Dean. The 12-month appointment is initially for five years, and is renewable.
Faculty in the department also have the opportunity to collaborate actively with colleagues in over a dozen interdisciplinary programs such as African-American Studies, Asian Studies, Comparative Literature, Film and Video Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, Linguistics, and Women’s Studies.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in any of the foreign languages specified above; a distinguished scholarly record; faculty experience in a program granting advanced degrees; qualification for appointment at the rank of professor; demonstration of excellent teaching and leadership ability; as well as prior administrative experience.

| Assistant Professor of Art and Design in Photography-Tenure Track-(002262-2009) |

Requirements: Assistant Professor of Art and Design in Photography – Tenure Track to
Teach courses ranging from introductory to advanced undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses may include the history of photography, documentary, studio lighting, digital imaging, the artist’s book, alternative processes, video, and web design/motion graphics. Participation in usual departmental activities is expected, as in continuing work in creative endeavors and/or research.
Qualifications: M.F.A. in Photography required. National exhibition record and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience beyond the graduate teaching assistant level preferred. Knowledge of contemporary theory, history and all practices of fine art photography, both traditional and digital required; knowledge of time-based digital media preferred.
The Patti and Rusty Rueff School of visual and Performing Arts is the only school among 11 departments within the College of Liberal Arts. The school is comprised of the Department of Art and Design and Theater, and the divisions of Dance and Music. Visual and Performing Arts has over 700 undergraduate majors, 60 graduate students, and 43 full-time faculty. The School is located in a new $38 million complex.

Requirments: The English Department at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Rhetoric and Composition. Applicants must have an active research agendas and an interest in writing program administration, new media, and applications of technology in writing courses. Teaching load is 2-2, including a graduate practicum in the teaching of composition and other graduate and undergraduate rhetoric and writing courses. Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition or closely related area required.

| Beginning tenure-track Assistant Professor of German (002237-2009) |
Requirements: Teach courses in German literature, language, and culture at the undergraduate and graduate levels: maintain and active research program; actively participate in extracurricular German program activities and events; advise graduate students.
Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 2010, in German literature, German Studies or closely-related field. Near-native fluency in German and English. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in research and teaching.
Areas of specialization: Open, with preference given to specializations in Medieval German Literature and/or Early Modern German Literature. Publications commensurate with experience.

The Department of seeks a Department Head to further develop the strengths of a dynamic department through effective management, leadership, and a shared vision of the Department’s future. The Department Head is appointed by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and reports to the Dean. Purdue’s Department of Sociology offers degrees at the AB, MS, and PhD levels and has 27 faculty members with a range of research and teaching specializations (see http://www.cla.purdue.edu/sociology). The Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University invites applications for the William C. Byham Chair in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The holder of the Byham Chair will join in an active and well-known I/O Psychology program that attracts top graduate students from across the world. The program is an important part of a strong and diverse psychology department and also has significant collaborations with a renowned OB/HRM program in Purdue’s Krannert School of Management. The successful candidate will have a record of research, external funding, teaching and service commensurate with the rank of Full Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in one or more of the following areas: selection, performance appraisal, training, organizational development or human performance.
Requirements: 1) Establish and maintain a productive research program; 2) Direct graduate-student research; 3) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
