Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational Studies (002275-2009)

Requirements: The Department of Educational Studies at Purdue University invites applications for appointment to a 10-month tenure track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.  The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate courses in measurement and research methodology; maintain an active program of research and scholarship; pursue external funding to support research and training; advise and mentor graduate students; work collaboratively and provide consultation and service on educational measurement and evaluation to colleagues in the department and university.

Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in the area of educational measurement
  • Evidence of experience in educational applications of measurement such as (but not limited to) content area and classroom assessments, large-scale assessment and educational accountability systems, or the use of technology in assessment
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical and research methods
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity

Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational Studies (002274-2009)

Requirements: The Department of Educational Studies at Purdue University is currently accepting applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor position in its recently reaccredited CACREP-approved School Counseling program, beginning fall 2010.  Responsibilities include teaching core counseling courses, research, supervision, service, and sharing program leadership.  This is a new position.  The Purdue School Counseling program, a recent recipient of the NCACES Outstanding Innovation in Counselor Education Award, is a dynamic program with selective admissions; small, full-time cohorts; and exciting international partnerships, including an ongoing collaboration with a Dutch university.  Almost all students participate in additional grant-funded professional-growth opportunities.

Assistant Professor in Literacy and Language Education (002273-2009)

Requirements: The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University seeks an assistant professor of literacy and language education with a background in elementary literacy instruction.  This is a 10-month, tenure-track position starting August 17, 2010.  The faculty member will be required to: Teach and provide leadership for an undergraduate literacy course in the Elementary Teacher Education Program, recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students and contribute to the development of graduate programs in Literacy and Language Education, establish and maintain a clearly defined research agenda and a strong record of research and scholarly productivity as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and acquire external funding in support of research and/or engagement activities.  Opportunities exist for the following:  development of online courses; involvement with current initiatives in STEM, rural, and international/global education; and cross-disciplinary collaborations within the College of Education, the University, and K-12 schools.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Literacy Education with concentration in elementary reading instruction is preferred; however, doctorates in other relevant disciplines will also be considered.  Other requirements include successful K-12 classroom teaching experience and demonstrated ability or potential to obtain external funding for research and/or engagement activities.  Preference will be given to individuals who focus on one or more of the following multiple literacies, writing instruction, content area literacy, and diverse learners.  Other desired qualifications include evidence of an ability to work collaboratively, demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and successful participation in university/public school partnerships.  Candidates will experience working with diverse learners are encourages to apply.

Mathematics Education Position (002269-2009)

Requirements: The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University seeks a mathematics educator at open rank. Preference will be given to candidates who qualify for associate professor or professor.  This is an academic year, tenure track position, with possible summer work.  Responsibilities include conducting research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in mathematics education, advising graduate students, and participating in institutional engagement activities.  Pursuit of external funding is expected.  Opportunities include: Participation in research and engagement projects associated with CRESME, the I-STEM Resource Network, and the Discovery Learning Center, and participating in cross-disciplinary collaborations within the College of Education, across the university, and in K-12 schools.

Qualifications: We seek a mathematics educator who will play a leadership role on growing the mathematics education program and developing innovate programs and projects in conjunction with the College of Education, College of Science, Center for Research and Engagement in Science and Mathematics Education (CRESME), I-STEM Resource Network, and Discovery Learning Center.  We seek a person who demonstrates or exhibits strong potential to establish a dynamic record of research and external funding in mathematics education.  The successful candidate will enhance our existing multi-talented community of faculty members who represent a variety of disciplinary perspectives, educational settings, and cutting-edge lines of research.  A doctorate in mathematics education or related field is required, as is an active record of scholarship and productivity commensurate with experience.  School mathematics teaching experience, graduate-level study in mathematics, and/or a focus on elementary mathematics education are preferred.  A successful candidate at the associate or professor level will be a forward-looking, collaborative leader who will guide the development of a strong mathematics teacher education program.

Asst/Assoc Clinical Professor of Curriculum and Instruction (002190-2009)

The Center for Literacy Education and Research (CLEAR) seeks a professional with an expertise in K-12 reading and literacy arts who is interested in extensive involvement in dynamic partnerships with schools at a Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy (PCL) University Training Center.

Continuing Lecturer in Social Studies Education (002170-2009)

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University invites applications for a part-time Continuing Lecturer position beginning August 17, 2009.  This position is a non-tenure track, academic year position that is renewable each year.

Requirements: Duties will include coordinating placement and supervision of social studies student teachers and assisting faculty with program implementation and improvement.  There may be opportunities for teaching, e.g., social studies methods.  Duties will involve no less than half-time employment each semester, but may be increased in a given semester depending on available work.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a master’s degree in Education or related field, have a minimum of three years of secondary teaching experience, and have a minimum of three years of experience supervising student teachers in the social studies field.  Must be committed to excellence in teaching and teacher education.

Associate Vice Provost/Executive Director (001924-2007)

Requirements:  The P-12 Engagement Center will be a highly visible portal to P-12 outreach initiatives on campus and serve to meet rapidly evolving education needs in Indiana and beyond.  The Associate Vice Provost P-12 Engagement will be involved in the creation and launch of this center, including establishing a vision and setting priorities for Purdue’s P-12 engagement agenda.  The Center will be expected to help transform educational research into innovative partnerships and effective practices in P-12 communities.  The Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director will have a faculty appointment in an appropriate academic program in the College of Education.

Qualifications:  The successful candidate must have a Ph.D., the academic credentials for appointment to the rank of Professor, and preferably work experience that demonstrates the following:  creative and visionary leadership, and a passion for work in P-12 education; successful collaborations with a wide variety of stakeholders, including those in P-12 education as well as those in higher education; experience working with interdisciplinary discovery, learning, and/or engagement projects; a successful record of scholarship and funded program of research; and excellent communication and public relations skills.

Professor in Applied Measurement/Educational Research Methodology

The College of Education Department of Educational Studies invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor in Applied Measurement and/or Educational Research Methodology.

Requirements:  Applicants at the Associate Professor level must have a proven record of publication, extramural funding, and cross-disciplinary collaborations.  Candidates will have the opportunity to have formal affiliations with several Purdue units, including the Purdue University Psychometric Instruction Laboratory (PUPIL), Discovery Learning Center (DLC), Assessment Research Center (ARC), and Center for Research and Engagement in Science and Math Education (CRESME).

This is a 10-month tenure track position primarily in the Department of Educational Studies.  Starting date will be August 13, 2007.  Responsibilities include:

  • Developing funded research and engagement projects.
  • Developing/maintaining a research program and disseminating results and ongoing findings via publications and presentations to local, state, national, and international education agencies and professional organizations.
  • Providing methodological research support across the College and University.

Qualifications:  The Department of Educational Studies invites applications for a position in applied measurement/educational research methodology as part of the College of Education’s strategic focus on interfacing with the Discovery Learning Center (DLC) and participating in campus-wide initiatives in science, math, technology and engineering education (see http://www.education.purdue.edu/about/strategic_plan.html).  We are interested in candidates with expertise in statistics and/or educational research methods, and an emphasis on program evaluation and assessment.  We prefer candidates with a background and focus that balances quantitative and qualitative approaches in program evaluation research.  We will also look favorable on candidates with expertise in multivariate statistical analysis, longitudinal designs, or mixed methods designs.  At the time of hire, the applicants should hold a doctorate in Educational Psychology, Educational Research Methods, Measurement/Psychometrics, Psychology, Statistics, or a related field.

Assistant Professor in Cultural Foundations (Posting #001676-2006)

Requirements:  Primary responsibilities are (a) to provide instruction in introductory educational psychology and/or special education courses and (b) to coordinate the field experiences and recitation sections for the learning and motivation/inclusive classroom block of the undergraduate teacher education program.
