Director of the Purdue Climate Change Research Center (002095-2008)

Purdue University seeks an internationally recognized scholar to serve as Director of the Purdue Climate Change Research Center (PCCRC).
Requirements: The Director will lead the Center in its mission and will be responsible for all of its internal and external affairs of the Center. The Director will also be expected to effectively communicate the Center’s achievements and vision to a variety of stakeholders, including the public, policy makers, government leaders, industry and scientists in other disciplines. As a tenured professor, the Director will also have the basic academic duties of research, teaching, and service.
Qualifications: The successful candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. and a successful track record of activities in an area directly related to climate science and/or policy. Candidates must have demonstrated outstanding research leadership and scholarly achievement in one or more areas of climate change or directly related fields.

Purdue University seeks and individual with vision and leadership skills to be the Director of the Computing Research Institute. The Institute’s mission is to champion high performance computing at Purdue.
Requirements: Provide broad policy guidance and leadership for the Computing Research Institute (CRI); Assume overall responsibility for all aspects of CRI operations; Represent the University and the CRI at technical conferences and symposia and by service on boards and commission of national importance; Represent the University and the CRI in interactions with state and federal agencies, government officials, corporate executives, media representatives, and potential donors.
Qualifications: Essential Qualifications: doctorate degree; an understanding of the computational process (engage applications, enable technologies). Desirable Qualifications: a visionary with demonstrated leadership skills; administrative experience in the leadership of multi-investigator and interdisciplinary research programs; experience with industrial partnerships; fundraising experience.

Discovery Park at Purdue University is seeking for a Research Faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Interested candidates with research expertise and potential in one or several cyber infrastructure enabling research areas including but not limited to databases, web services, grid computing and middleware, high performance computing, security, virtualization, and massive data storage and management. The ability to thrive in an highly collaborative environment in which projects often span several research groups (these projects usually involve collaboration with cyber infrastructure thrust areas including but not limited to environment, healthcare, life sciences, and homeland security). Ideally have these demonstrated skills: Ability to initiate, lead, and write proposals; Ability to build and maintain collaborative efforts with appropriate departments and centers; interdisciplinary study and inquiry; excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal communication, human relations and team building skills are very important; ability to identify and develop approaches to significant challenges related to cyber infrastructure; ability to foster and maintain collaborations with both academic and industrial researchers.
Requirements: To initiate and lead research projects at the cross edge of cyber infrastructure and applications areas of interest to other Discovery Park Centers. Form alliances with academia and industry to foster transfer of knowledge and technology. Write proposals to federal and industrial funding agencies for research grants. Become a though leader in developing our response to funding supporting ties. Lead the design, architecture, development, testing, documentation and delivery of Cyber Infrastructure research projects, including Data and Knowledge Management, Visualization, HPC, and Middleware. Disseminate research and educational outreach products to researchers, educators, and students. Develop and independent research agenda, supervise dissertations in conjunction with other faculty. Develop proposals in close interaction with other University Units.
Qualifications: Minimum education of a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields with at least one year of experience in conducting research, writing proposals, and leading projects in cyber infrastructure. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.
