Continuing Lecturer, Forensic Science Program Department of Entomology (003043-2014W)
The Department of Entomology at Purdue University seeks to fill a fulltime, 9-month non-tenure track Lecturer position in the Forensic Science program. The individual will be expected to teach up to 12 credit hours each semester and build new courses as per his/her expertise.
Qualifications: The Lecturer must hold a graduate (Masters or Doctorate) degree in a forensic science related discipline and have significant experience in an area of forensic science. Strong organizational and communication skills are required. Experience in teaching at the college level is highly desirable. Experience with crime scene investigation or forensic laboratory experience is highly desirable. At a minimum, the applicant must have served as a graduate teaching assistant in a scientific discipline. Preferred qualifications include evidence of successfully planning, implementing, and evaluating classes, events, workshops, short courses, and other activities; evidence of producing high-quality education curricula and materials; evidence of successful use of internet services to deliver educational programs and materials; and evidence of outreach activities.
Duties: The Lecturer will be responsible for assisting the director in the management, maintenance and organization of the forensic science program. The Lecturer will also be expected to participate in outreach activities related to the program. (S)he will also assist in supervising and training undergraduate students in independent studies and capstone projects. The Lecturer will teach a variety of forensic science courses, including laboratory sections associated with the core curriculum. Course assignments will vary by semester.
Appointment Breakdown: 90% instruction. 10% outreach, public engagement activities.
