Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor Biological Engineering (002811-2013)
RESPONSlBlLlTlES: The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of biological engineering. Successful applicants are expected to establish a world-class research program with an emphasis in one or more of the following areas in biological engineering: protein engineering, synthetic biology, genetic circuit design, metabolic engineering, cellular and biomolecular engineering, energy efficient micro/nano devices, systems modeling of biological networks, or biobased products/biomaterials engineering. This position will be part of the program in biological engineering that targets the global challenges associated with sustainable applications in human or animal health, energy, the environment, agriculture, or industrial (bio) products. The successful candidate will have a distinguished academic record, will develop independent research programs and will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in biological engineering.
COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT AND FACILITIES: The position, an academic year appointment, will be based in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, a top-ranked program. An opportunity exists for joint appointment in Schools within the College of Engineering as well as participation in high impact multidisciplinary research within Discovery Park Centers (Bindley Bioscience Center, Birck Nanotechnology Center, Discovery Learning Center).

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral level degree in engineering or closely related field and possess excellent communications skills. It is preferred that the candidate would also have earned their B.S. in engineering.
