Associate Dean for Research (002721-2012)
Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Associate Dean for Research for the College of Technology at Purdue University’s main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Associate Dean will provide leadership for the College’s university aligned strategic initiatives to define and develop unit-specific and cross-unit research throughout our academic units.
The College of Technology has a current undergraduate enrollment of 3,200, a graduate enrollment of 450, and 140 full-time faculty. Responsibilities: The Associate Dean will serve as a senior member of the Dean’s leadership team and will report directly to the Dean of the college. He or she, through faculty, staff, and students will lead the research transformation within the college.
Candidates are sought whose qualifications and experience assure effective leadership in guiding the growth and development of undergraduate and graduate research programs, and who are familiar, and have demonstrated success with research funding agencies or industry. Excellent administration, communication, and organizational skills will be essential attributes for success as the Associate Dean. By infusing international perspectives into our scholarly activities the associate dean will make progress towards the changing set of global imperatives.
Qualifications: Include an earned doctorate from an accredited institution, a strong record of published scholarship, undergraduate and graduate teaching experience, and familiarity with foundation and governmental funding agencies. The successful candidate should be able to work across diverse programs and possess a clear understanding of the mission of a land grant institution.
Applications: This is an academic year appointment with summer support, 75% functioning as the Associate Dean for Research, and 25% assignment in a College of Technology academic department. The position has an anticipated start date as early as January 1, 2013. The successful candidate should qualify for faculty rank as a full professor in one of the academic areas within the college.
