Assistant/Associate Faculty Position (002697-2012)
The School of Health Sciences invites applications from candidates conducting research in the area of Environmental Epidemiology as part of a University wide cluster hire in chronic disease/public health. The cluster hire includes eight tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level or higher, see below for more information.
Responsibilities: The candidate is expected to participate in ongoing and future initiatives in public health on campus (http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/ClusterHireinPublicHealth). The School’s signature areas are neurodegenerative disorders, carcinogenesis, chronic diseases, resulting from environmental and occupational exposure to metals, particulates, pesticides, and physical agents, and the use of medical imaging to study the health effects of environmental agents. The candidate is expected to develop a collaborative internationally recognized research program to explore the associations between chemical/physical exposure and neurological, cardiovascular, immunological disorders and/or carcinogenesis. There is an ample opportunity to work with well-established research groups with long standing interest in the human health effects of exposure to metals, pesticides and air pollutants. The candidate is expected to train graduate students, demonstrate excellence in teaching, and contribute to the School’s mission.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in environmental epidemiology or related field of interest, at least two years of post-doctoral experience and a strong publication record. Demonstration of grantsmanship and teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
