Assistant/Associate Faculty Position (002696-2012)
The College of Health and Human Sciences, Department of Health & Kinesiology seeks applications for a tenure track position in the public health program. The Department of Health & Kinesiology is one of nine units in the College. The College of Health & Human Sciences is the 3rd largest in the university with 5000 undergraduate students, 500 graduate students and 200 faculty members. Purdue was established in 1869, is Indiana’s land-grant institution, and has an enrollment of nearly 40,000 students. Purdue has the second largest international student population among U.S. public universities and is consistently ranked among the leading research institutions in the country.
Responsibilities: Expectations also include the teaching of public health courses in the undergraduate program, the Masters in Public Health, and the advising of doctoral students. There are ample opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations within the College of Health & Human Sciences. Applications from candidates committed to participating in or leading research projects on innovative approaches to the primary prevention of chronic diseases are preferred.
Qualifications: Applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in one of the core disciplines of public health with particular emphasis on physical activity and chronic disease prevention. A substantive independent line of public health research with potential for attracting extramural funding is expected.
