Assistant/Associate Professor, MET - Columbus (002678-2012)
The Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Purdue University, Indiana, has a full-time opening at its Columbus, Indiana Campus, beginning January 2013. This position will be filled as a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications.
Columbus, IN: Located 45 miles south of Indianapolis, the MET program at Columbus is a growing program with approximately 80 students in the BSMET degree program. The program offers degrees in applied mechanical engineering with primary emphasis placed on manufacturability and the implementation of sound engineering principles in design, development and manufacturing environments. http://www.tech.purdue.edu/columbus/
Qualifications: Applicants must have a baccalaureate in engineering, engineering technology or a closely related discipline. Relevant, recent industrial experience, prior teaching experience and PE license are highly desirable. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and rank.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level in the areas of mechatronics, thermal and fluid sciences, materials, and manufacturing processes. Scholarship activities and the pursuit of grants and sponsorships are expected. The candidate will also be expected to serve the university community by participating in committees, recruiting activities, student advising, engagement efforts with local industry, and assessment activities intended to maintain ABET accreditation.
