Assistant/Associate Professor, Engineering Technology - Anderson (002603-2012)
Purdue’s College of Technology resides in 10 Indiana communities across the State. The College of Technology Statewide is part of Indiana’s economic engine and provides high quality engineering technology and leadership programs to communities and regions they serve to help keep the existing job base, create new economic opportunities that did not exist before and/or improve the quality of life to the people they serve. Purdue University offers technical courses and a majority of the general education courses are delivered by the host institution, or by the Indiana College Network via distance education. Master agreements are in place with Indiana University, Anderson University and Vincennes University. Classes are taught by Purdue faculty or those approved by academic department heads. There is a low student-to-faculty ratio, with care for student success, and classroom access to state-of-the-industry technology. Approximately 53% of all Statewide Technology students are full-time and 47% are part time. Approximately 82% of Statewide Technology graduates remain in the community where they received their degree. Responsibilities: Purdue College of Technology at Anderson, Indiana is accepting applications for a tenure-track, ten-month faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level in the Engineering Technology degree program. Responsibilities include instruction, curriculum development, recruitment, and external engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and helping to deliver a 21 credit hour concentration in Food Production Technology. The successful candidate must be able to teach in four or more of the following areas at the undergraduate level: nutrition and/or cellular biology, transportation and logistics, food safety, quality laws and regulations, lean manufacturing, quality management and maintaining food quality standards. Candidates with a doctorate and a background in Production, Food and/or Consumer Sciences and practical laboratory and experimentation background and who have a record of actively seeking and securing funding from external sources are highly desirable.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate/Ph.D., in agriculture, engineering, science, technology, education, or closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution; a minimum of three years of full-time U.S. industrial experience; a record of involvement in professional societies; excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; proficient in the development and delivery of courses via distance education technologies; a record of successful teaching. Engagement with the potential for use inspired research, and scholarship, are required. Potential candidates are expected to support and be involved in the recruitment and retention of students.
Starting Date: The anticipated start date is the beginning of the academic year in August 2012.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
