DIRECTOR, Purdue Climate Change Research Center (002735-2012)
An internal search is underway for the next Director of the Purdue Climate Change Research Center (PCCRC) in Discovery Park. The Director of the PCCRC will lead the Center in its mission and will be responsible for all internal and external affairs of the center. The Director will also be expected to effectively communicate the Center’s achievements and vision to a variety of stakeholders, including the public, policy makers, government leaders, industry and scientists in other disciplines.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related field, a broad knowledge of climate issues and research opportunities, and a successful track record of activities in an area directly related to climate science and/or policy. Candidates must have demonstrated research leadership and scholarly achievement in one or more areas of climate change or directly related fields. The Director is expected to utilize the unique infrastructure and investment of Discovery Park to combine discovery and engagement to sustain a world class Center at Purdue University. The Director of the PCCRC reports to the Director of the Global Sustainability Institute and works closely with Academic Deans, Department Heads, Discovery Park researchers, and the PCCRC leadership in the administration of the program.
The review and interview process is scheduled to be completed before the end of the semester so that a new director will start January 1, 2013. Applications are welcomed from Purdue West Lafayette faculty with full professor rank. Application deadline is October 12, 2012.
Potential applicants are encouraged to discuss their interest with their department head, as a center director is typically expected to focus 75% effort on the position. Applications should include a letter reflecting the applicant’s experience and vision for the position and PCCRC, as well as a current CV.
