Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor or a Continuing Lecturer (002857-2013)
The Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Purdue University, Indiana, has a full-time opening at its Columbus, Indiana Campus, beginning in August 2013. This position may be filled either as a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor or a Continuing Lecturer. The MET program at Columbus is a growing program with approximately 80 students in the BSMET degree program.
Requirements: The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level in one or more of the following areas: thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid power, materials, and manufacturing processes or other subjects in the MET curriculum. The candidate will also be expected to serve the university community by participating in committees, recruiting activities, student advising, engagement efforts with the local industry, and assessment activities intended to maintain accreditation. Applicants wishing to be considered for a Continuing Lecturer position must have a baccalaureate in engineering or engineering technology, plus a master’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or a related discipline.
Qualifications: Applicants for the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position must at least have a master’s degree, with preference given to candidates with a PhD in engineering, engineering technology or a related discipline. Relevant, recent industrial experience is required, and prior teaching experience and PE license are highly desirable. Both positions are contractual non-tenure accruing, but renewable with the Clinical Professor position having a faculty status and potential for promotion through established policies. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
