ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTON, LEARNING DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (002775-2012)

POSITION: Assistant Professor in Learning Design and Technology, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education.

DESCRIPTION: The Department of curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University seeks an Assistant Professor starting in August 2013. The Learning Design and Technology program seeks applications with expertise in human performance technology and the implementation of educational programs in a variety of organizational settings (such as corporate, non-profit, military and government organizations). This is an academic year tenure-track faculty position. The position also includes the possibility for summer employment.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain a strong research agenda as evidenced by external grant support and refereed publications;
  • Teach online and face –to-face graduate courses on the subject of human performance technology, motivation e-learning, and instructional design;
  • Advise Masters and Doctoral students;
  • Work collaboratively to advance the LDT graduate program and the field of human performance technology;
  • Collaborate with instructional  designers and human performance technology practitioners in various organizational settings to create authentic field experiences for students; and
  • Participate in partnership and Leadership activities with local, state and national entities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Required: Earned doctorate in human performance technology, instructional technology, business management or a related field; Minimum 3 years of experience working in human performance technology in an organizational setting; Ability to build a research program in the area of human performance technology or organizational workplace and performance issues; Record of excellent teaching in curses dealing with human performance technology, corporate training, motivation, e-learning, and instructional design. Because the College of Education is actively seeking to diversity its faculty, the ability to contribute to a multicultural perspective is desires.

Preferred: Knowledge of theories of learning and instruction and organizational behavior/organizational development; Experience with instructional design and human performance technology in a variety of organizational contexts; Experience as an external consultant for a variety of organizations; Experience with program development in the area of human performance technology.

Starting date: August 12, 2013
