Department of Curriculum and Instruction/Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences Continuing Lecturer Position (003022-2014)
This continuing lecturer position is a jointly appointed position in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) and elementary teacher education split between the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. The position is a one-year appointment to a full-time position beginning with the 2014-15 academic year with the possibility of re-appointment.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will work in both the earth and atmospheric science education and elementary education programs at Purdue University. Responsibilities include:
- teaching required undergraduate courses in EAPS for both the elementary and secondary teacher education programs;
- overseeing the secondary license program for EAS including handling inquiries, advising candidates, and coordinating required reporting efforts; and
- serving as head university supervisor for EAS secondary student teachers (including the Wilson Fellows) and working with the Office of Field Experiences in the College of Education to facilitate placements for student teachers.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in EAPS, a related field, or in science teacher education required. Successful experience working in undergraduate STEM teacher education. K-12 teaching experience preferred.
Salary: $48,000 - $50,000 plus benefits; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
