Faculty Position in Biomedical Engineering (002933-2013)The Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University is inviting applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level. This rapidly growing school represents a major investment by Purdue and the State of Indiana to integrate engineering and the life sciences in education and research. The school currently administers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs as well as a combined MD/PhD program with the Indiana University School of Medicine. The integrative Martin C. Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering houses the school’s burgeoning education and research programs.
We are seeking a highly qualified, creative individual with substantial research and teaching experience in sensors and technologies to diagnose, treat, or monitor metabolic diseases. The new faculty member will be expected to develop and teach graduate and undergraduate level biomedical engineering courses, develop a strong, externally-funded research program, and help foster school growth.
The new faculty member will have the opportunity to collaborate with numerous investigators in the Purdue Colleges of Engineering, Pharmacy, Science, Health and Human Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine, and the Indiana University School of Medicine. In addition, Purdue has established Discovery Park, a highly interdisciplinary enterprise dedicated to translational research that includes the state-of-the-art Birck Nanotechnology Center and Bindley Bioscience Center. Tremendous opportunities for collaboration also exist with a wealth of Indiana-based companies in the medical device, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent doctoral level degree in biomedical engineering or closely related field.
