Assistant Professor, Musculoskeletal Biology (002923-2013)

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences.

Requirements: We seek an outstanding scientist with research experience in the areas of bone or cartilage biology as they relate to musculoskeletal disease or regenerative medicine.  The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, well-funded research program, engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research, and participate in training of professional and graduate students which will include teaching of systemic physiology within the professional veterinary curriculum.

Qualifications: This position offers unique opportunities for collaboration with ongoing musculoskeletal research programs at Purdue in Basic Medical Sciences, Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering, and Nutrition Science. Purdue faculty have outstanding opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration through cross-campus research centers such as the NCI supported Center for Cancer Research and Discovery Park.  The Indiana CTSI and other programs provide ample opportunity for collaboration with musculoskeletal biologists engaged in orthopedic research at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Faculty at Purdue have a long history of collaboration with Indiana-based biomedical device, orthopedic, and pharmaceutical industries and the candidate will have the opportunity to work with established research programs with links to those industries.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in biology or related field and have demonstrated excellence in in both research and education. Candidates who also possess an additional medical degree (e.g., D.V.M., V.M.D., or M.D.) are preferred
