Environmental and Ecological Engineering, College of Engineering, (002916-2013)

Qualifications: The Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering (EEE) at Purdue University has two tenure/tenure-track openings for exceptional faculty candidates.  Successful candidates must hold an earned Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral level degree(s) in engineering or a related discipline, and should have a distinguished academic record, demonstrated ability to develop a world-class externally-funded research program, and a commitment to outstanding scholarship and education.

Requirements: The candidate will be expected to teach courses within the EEE undergraduate and graduate degree programs and develop a robust externally-funded research program.  Candidates at the Associate/Full Professor level are targeted, but exceptional candidates at the Assistant Professor rank will receive serious consideration. Given the explicit inter-disciplinary structure of EEE, successful candidates will have a joint appointment between EEE and an appropriate School of Engineering.

EEE seeks to characterize the impact of natural and engineered systems on the environment, and establish engineered systems that function under ecological and socio-economic constraints. EEE considers the control, treatment, and mitigation of waste streams, and the design and management of resilient engineered systems that can exist in harmony with human and natural systems. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: industrial ecology, sustainable manufacturing, eco-design, green materials and chemicals/materials synthesis, environmental-industrial system dynamics and resilience, coupled engineered-human-natural systems, restorative ecology, sustainability science and engineering, green supply chains, life cycle engineering, indoor and outdoor air quality, air pollution control, water use/reuse systems, solutions to emerging contaminants, value recovery from waste streams, solid waste treatment, and greening the built environment.

EEE engages more than 40 faculty members within the College of Engineering and across the campus. An undergraduate degree program in EEE has been established, and a graduate program is in development.
