Assistant/Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor (002877-2013)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Purdue University, Indiana, has a full-time opening at its South Bend, Indiana campus, beginning in January 2014. This position may be filled either as a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor or a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. The MET program at South Bend is a growing program with approximately 30 students in the BSMET degree program.

Requirements: The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level in one or more of the following areas: thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid power, manufacturing systems, and manufacturing processes or other subjects in the MET curriculum. The candidate will also be expected to serve the university community by participating in committees, recruiting activities, student advising, engagement efforts with the local industry, and assessment activities intended to maintain accreditation.

Qualifications: Applicants for the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position must have at least a master’s degree, with preference given to candidates with a PhD in engineering, engineering technology or a related discipline. Applicants for the tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor must have a PhD in engineering, engineering technology, or a related discipline. Relevant, recent industrial experience is required, and prior teaching experience and PE license are highly desirable. The Clinical position is contractual non-tenure accruing, but renewable with the position having a faculty status and potential for promotion through established policies. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
