Full Professor Position, William R. Scholle Chair in Food Processing (002486-2011)

Position: Full-time, tenured faculty position as Professor of Food Science, holding endowed chair position, which includes annual funds to support research program.

Successful applicant will be joining a nationally recognized Food Science program with exceptional facilities, and have the opportunity to interact with faculty in a wide range of disciplines.

Appointment and Salary: Professor (9-month appointment).  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  A background check will be required for employment in this position.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in food processing/engineering or closely related field required.  Candidates will be strongly considered who have an established and exceptionally strong research program in food processing and preservation.  Ideal that candidate has research emphasis in food safety and experience with aseptic processing.  Applicants should have effective leadership, cross-cultural communication, teamwork, industry relations, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:  The successful applicant will develop and lead an internationally recognized research program in food processing.  This faculty member is expected to interact with food scientists, engineers, and other researchers on and off campus to build a dynamic and innovative research program in food processing.  The successful candidate will be expected to secure external research funds, advise graduate and undergraduate research students, contribute to the teaching of graduate and/or undergraduate level courses, participate in outreach programs, and engage in national and international activities.  This faculty member will have the opportunity to actively participate in various research centers on the Purdue campus, including the Center of Food Safety Engineering in order to expand their research, outreach, and education efforts in the context of the multidisciplinary teams active in the centers.  The Department of Food Science at Purdue is recognized as a top undergraduate and graduate program and a global leader in research and outreach food science efforts.
