003752-2017 - Assistant Dean for Learning & Assessment

The Purdue University, College of Pharmacy is seeking applications for a tenure track or clinical track faculty member at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to coordinate learning and assessment activities within the College.  The position is budgeted at 0.5 FTE as an Assistant Dean, and a 0.5 FTE appointment will be available in an appropriate academic unit within the College, depending on the areas of expertise of the candidate. 

The goal is to sustain continuous improvement in academic programs, based on information collected from assessment initiatives.   Position responsibilities include providing leadership for the evaluation of course-based and curriculum-wide initiatives that assess student progress in achieving the general education and professional outcome abilities in professional and undergraduate programs.  This position will: serve as chair of the College Assessment Committee, work closely with College Curriculum committees, interface with college and university offices associated with education, monitor programmatic outcomes, coordinate teaching awards, represent the College at national assessment meetings, and facilitate development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive assessment plans.  The successful candidate will fulfill faculty responsibilities within their home department including teaching (professional, undergraduate, or graduate) and scholarship. This individual will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and will serve on the College Executive Committee.  Qualifications include a Ph.D., Pharm.D., or Ed.D. (or equivalent), academic experience commensurate with faculty rank, demonstrated administrative and leadership abilities in higher education, and the ability to design and implement data collection processes and analyze acquired data.  It is helpful, but not required, for applicants to have experience in health professions education.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.  Screening of applicants will begin November 1, 2017 and the search will remain open until the position is filled.  The application should include a letter describing relevant experiences and interest in the position; administrative philosophy; a complete curriculum vitae; and the names and contact information for three references.
