Position

Continuing Lecturer of Art and Design in Visual and Communications Design:

Full-Time and Non-Tenure Track

Start date - January 8, 2018

Responsibilities

Teach up to four undergraduate and/or graduate classes per semester in the Visual and Communications Design program, including design principles, typography, and/or digital communications (web design and motion graphics). The position requires participation in usual departmental activities and service on departmental committees as assigned.

Qualifications

M.F.A or M.A. required in Visual Communications Design Graphic Design or Interaction Design. Prior university teaching preferred. Professional practice strongly desired.

Department

The Department of Art and Design offers undergraduate concentrations, majors, and minors in seven areas including Art Education, Art History, Fine Arts, Electronic-Time Based Media, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Photography, Studio Arts and Technology, and Visual Communications Design. The Masters of Fine Arts degree is offered in all areas except Art History and the PhD program in Art Education is offered in conjunction with the College of Education. The Department of Art and Design consistently educates approximately 350 undergraduate majors and 40 graduate students. The Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts, one of ten departments/schools in the College of Liberal Arts, includes the Departments of Art and Design and Theatre along with the Divisions of Music and Dance. Procedure

Send letter of application, designer statement, teaching philosophy statement, résumé or curriculum vitae, official transcripts, and three current letters of recommendation (addressing candidate’s design and teaching potential).  Include twenty (20) samples of professional work and, if applicable, students’ work in separate PDF documents. If available, please send a list with hyperlinks to your videos, motion graphics, interaction and web designs.
