RCRA Boiler & Industrial Furnace Regulations

boiler illustrationIn February 1991, the USEPA promulgated a final rule that expands controls on hazardous waste combustion by regulating the burning of hazardous waste in boilers and industrial furnaces (BIFs). The BIF rule sets levels of control for emissions of toxic organic compounds, toxic metals, HCl, chlorine gas and particulate matter. Owners and operators of BIFs are subject to permitting and other standards applicable to hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facilities. It's a way to better understand the applicability, terms, definitions, technology and requirements associated with the BIF rule.bif.html
