Boilermaker Student Data: Introductory Reporting for Cognos Consumers

Enrollment Management will be offering an introductory hands-on Cognos training session specifically designed for report consumers.

After the two hour training, you can expect to adequately navigate within the Cognos interface, gain a better understanding of the available reports, and get your specific questions answered.

No prior experience with Cognos is necessary; however you must have a Cognos Consumer or Report Studio license.

Boilermaker Student Data:
Admissions Reporting for Cognos Consumers and Authors

Enrollment Management will be offering a hands-on Cognos training session specifically designed for Cognos Consumers and Authors.

The three hour session will be broken into two parts. The first part will be an in-depth exploration of Admissions data and the relevant Validated Reports. During the second part, we will break into two groups: Consumers and Authors.

  • Consumers will apply the knowledge they've learned to problem-solving exercises.
  • Authors will focus on Admissions packages, where to find data in those packages, and modifying existing Validated Reports.

You should have prior experience with Cognos and be able to navigate within the Cognos interface. You must have a Cognos Consumer or Report Studio license.

During the two hour training, you will modify existing validated reports, learn how to select an appropriate package, develop a custom report, and get your specific questions answered.

You should already be able to navigate within the Cognos interface and run existing reports. You must have a Report Studio license to participate in this session.

Boilermaker Student Data: Retention and Graduation Rates

Presented by: Dr. Brent Drake, Assistant Vice Provost and Director Enrollment Management Analysis and Reporting

Retention and graduation rates are important metrics at every level of our institution, but do you know where to find this data and what it all means? Would you like to know more about the relevant Cognos reports and how to use them? 

The Office of Enrollment Management will present a special two-part training session on retention and graduation rates on October 22nd, 2013. The first two hours will provide exercises for using existing validated reports in Cognos at the university, college, and major levels, as well including discussion about student data definitions and appropriate use. The final hour is optional and will be especially for report writers who want to modify standard reports to meet specific needs.

You must have a Cognos license to participate.
