Executive Director, Division of Financial Aid
Ted Malone is the Executive Director of the Division of Financial Aid at Purdue University. He began is financial aid career being recruited to take over a one-person shop a couple of months after he graduated. The Dean of Students believed his experience in the U.S. Navy prepared him for a role in which understanding government relations was critical. Ted’s career has encompassed financial aid positions at Simpson College (CA), Grand Canyon University, Glendale Community College (AZ), Edmonds Community College (WA), and The University of Alaska Anchorage (AK). At each stop, Ted has been committed to service and engagement in state and national professional organizations. Ted has served as President of both the Arizona and Alaska Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. He twice was President of the Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WASFAA) and sat on Board of Directors of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Associations (NASFAA).
Ted has also given presentations at over eight state financial aid association meetings, two regional meetings and at the NASFAA National Conference. Training is one of his passions, having worked on multiple financial aid basic training events including the WASFAA Summer Institute.
On a personal note, Ted is married to the wittiest woman on the planet, has two post-teen children, earned a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do (although his son out ranks him as a second degree BB), and ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain with his older daughter. In Lafayette, he has become involved with the Civic Theater of Greater Lafayette.
