RE:            Associate Counsel for Human Resources and Academic Affairs

I am pleased to announce that Tandra Foster has joined the Purdue legal team as Associate Counsel for Human Resources & Academic Affairs.

A native of Lafayette (and a Jefferson High School grad), Tandra joins us from the firm of Barnes & Thornburg (B&T) in Indianapolis. Prior to B&T, she worked in Lafayette at Stuart & Branigin, where she began her legal career after graduating from Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law in 2006. Tandra has a strong background in the areas of employment law, higher education law, regulatory compliance counseling and general litigation. We are very pleased to have Tandra join the Office of Legal Counsel, but she has already represented Purdue very effectively over the course of her career. In 2013, for example, she secured a victory on the university’s behalf in a case before the Indiana Court of Appeals, which issued a unanimous opinion in our favor. Tandra received her undergraduate degree from IU-Bloomington, where she was an All-American and Big Ten champion in track & field.

In her role, Tandra will work closely with, and provide advice and assistance to, the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity, Regional Campus Chancellors, and College Deans in the administration of employee relations, benefits, and HR compliance matters, as well as in the oversight and management of associated legal risks. She also will handle other legal duties related to special projects, contract matters, dispute resolution, and policies, primarily in the areas of academic and student affairs.

Please join me in welcoming Tandra when you get the opportunity. She is located in Hovde Hall, Room 222.
