Re:           Space utilization data needs assessment underway; facilitated sessions to begin soon

In order to appropriately inform the potential development of resources to enhance standardization of and access to space utilization data on the West Lafayette campus, Director of Institutional Effectiveness Ben Wiles and I have launched a space utilization data needs assessment. At the conclusion of this collaborative needs assessment, we will have collected the information necessary to develop a business intelligence (BI) tool that will be capable of streamlining and improving the consistency of space utilization data available to campus stakeholders.

Representatives of academic, administrative and research units, whose roles directly relate to space planning and management functions, will be invited to participate in facilitated “focus group” sessions that will inform the needs assessment process. We will be advancing this initiative quickly with the expectation of completing all of the 60 to 90 minute focus group sessions by the end of the 2015 calendar year.

Identified representatives will receive invitations that include additional information about the focus group session format, content and scheduling process. Please encourage invited staff to participate in these sessions.

Please contact me (bmbowen@purdue.edu) or Director of Space Management Kim Rechkemmer (kimr@purdue.edu) if questions arise or additional information is needed.

Thank you for your support of and involvement in this important needs assessment process.
