SUBJECT:   Employee Self Service (ESS) Leave Tool Upgrade

 

I am pleased to announce a technology upgrade to the Employee Self Service (ESS) Leave Tool currently used by some exempt employees at all campuses. The upgrade simplifies leave requests and approvals and offers enhanced reporting for exempt employees and supervisors. The ESS upgrade is separate from and not dependent upon any leaves policy changes. The upgrade will be available on Monday, April 6.  Areas that are currently using ESS for recording and approving leaves can continue to use it without interruption. Current users will notice updated screens and functionality. The changes are intuitive and can be utilized with little to no training.  

The online ESS leave tool is available for use by all exempt staff, including Academic Year (AY) faculty.   The tool is now more user-friendly and can be used by AY faculty for recording sick leave and personal business days during their regularly scheduled work times. It is recommended that departments review the tool with their Business Offices or Human Resources and determine whether to incorporate it or continue with their current recordkeeping practices for exempt staff.
