EAS K-12 Outreach - Classroom Visits

Focus Visits are hands-on science lessons, usually with a central theme like ground water, fossils, weather, etc. Students participate in inquiry-based activities and learn exciting science content. Teachers are encouraged to participate in activities and use them in their classes.
EAS Focus visits include:

Box of Rocks
This activity is a classification activity where students discover how scientist classify rocks and are introduced to the three basic classifications of rocks.

Pollution Problems
This activity discusses groundwater flow and water pollution. The students learn how ground water moves and how surface contaminants can affect ground water.

Fossil Footprints
This activity uses scientific inquiry to explore dinosaurs and Paleontology. The students will hone their observation and critical thinking skills as they explore how information can be obtained about dinosaurs without the presence of skeletal remains.

Simple Spinners
Students develop and build their inquiry skills as they utilize the scientific method to explore variables of a paper model and to discover answers to questions.
