Harshvardhan named new associate dean
Harshvardhan assumed the role as associate dean for graduate studies and international programs on January 12. He replaces Jean Chmielewski, who recently stepped down from this position to focus on meeting the needs of additional growth in her research program.
Harshvardhan has been employed at Purdue University since 1988 where he is a professor in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences where he was department head from 1996—2004. He is also a faculty member for the Purdue Climate Change Research Center. Harshvardhan received a PhD in atmospheric science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Prior to joining Purdue he was with the Climate and Radiation Branch of the Laboratory for Atmospheres at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
