Partnering with rural Indiana hospitals to develop novel approaches to healthcare system modeling and planning for prioritization of essential healthcare services to be sustained during pandemic influenza. Plans that are developed are:
Systematic: identify alternatives for planning and promote engagement of local healthcare system partners for a systematic and unified hospital and community planning approach.
Justifiable: based on best practices and supported by appropriate literature.
Flexible: adjustable based on changing epidemiological characteristics.
Scalable: applicable to varying populations, geographic jurisdictions, and levels of resources of existing within the hospital and local healthcare system.
Sustainable: sustainable for a period of twelve weeks during a pandemic.
