Purdue Homeland Security Masters Area of Specialization
December 2006
The Purdue Homeland Security Masters Area of Specialization (AoS), which is a designation on a student’s diploma, is subject to approval at each departmental level. Students will complete the required curriculum for their specific departments’ program while including the two Homeland Security core courses and several Homeland Security related courses specific to and defined by their department of study.
This is an interdisciplinary program open to all departments on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus. Several departments are in the process of securing approval for the AoS. The first two departments offering this Homeland Security Masters Area of Specialization are Agriculture and Biological Engineering (ABE) and Organizational Leadership and Supervision (OLS). If you are interested in the program but find that it is unavailable in a specific master field of study, please contact the respective department head.
The first Homeland Security Core Course, ASM591A - Foundations in Homeland Security Studies was offered during the Fall 2006. Students are required to have senior or graduate level status. The second course, ASM 591B and OLS 581B - Managing Resources & Applications for Homeland Security will be offered in Spring 2007 with a pre-requisite of the first course, ASM 591A, or the approval of faculty. If a student wants to take these courses, he/she can do so with or without the desire to complete the Masters Area of Specialization.
Please check the website for homeland security related courses and additional information about learning initiatives in homeland security.
