Indiana Humanities Council Leadership ForumsIndiana Humanities Council (IHC) 2005 series of Regional Leadership Forums and State Leadership Summit held between March 10th, 2005 and June 30th, 2005. IHC states that “Leadership Indiana is a growing, inclusive, well-informed, and dynamic network of business, government, education, and non-profit leaders who work together for the future well-being of their communities and the state. Leadership Indiana is a concerted statewide effort to identify, to connect, and to inform key leaders about critical needs, leading trends, best practices, and ideas.” The 2005 effort concentrated on the need for regional economic development leading to positive change for the state of Indiana. Purdue Center for Regional Development (PCRD) agreed to collaborate with IHC and its consultant, Case Western Reserve University Center for Regional Economic Issues, in producing maps and statistical analyses for Indiana Humanities Council series of Leadership Forums. PCRD designed and supervised the creation of thematic maps for each regional forum, working in conjunction with Case Western’s contractor, Youngstown University, OH. PCRD provided economic and demographic data and analysis for each region, and traveled to present this information in the form of PowerPoint’s and speeches to regional forum members in each region. Impact statements for program
IHC states that: “The Indiana Leadership Summit is the annual convention of Leadership Indiana. The Summit provides a unique, statewide platform to frame and discuss strategies and issues that lead to positive change for the state of Indiana. Because the Summit and ongoing, affiliated programs will have a favorable impact on Indiana communities, a core group of key private sector leaders from the economic regions of the state will be recruited to further the cause and maximize the effort.” Partnerships that have been established for this program Program annual reports and/or strategic data Analytic products prepared by PCRD include 9 maps and 9 analytic charts for each Regional Council visited, or a total of 81 maps and 81 Charts. Three of the twelve Leadership Forum regions either elected to prepare their own data (Muncie/Ball State), or not to hold regional forums. PCRD staff made approximately 10 original presentations during the project. .
