Thank
you for your interest in the Interns for Indiana Program. The objectives of
Purdue’s IfI program are to provide students with professional training
and experience working with Indiana start up companies, while providing employers
with talented professional personnel.
The program looks for students from all disciplines. Students should be of at least junior standing and have a GPA of 2.8 or above to be considered. Graduate students and international students with visa’s that allow them to work in internships off-campus are welcome to apply.
Through a seminar series and other activities, students will explore entrepreneurial issues and skills, have opportunities to network and develop as a community, and earn an academic credit each semester.
In addition, participating students will be eligible for placement in a paid internship with a start-up company. Internships are not required and will be assigned based on availability, goodness of fit, and interest. Students who are selected and placed with a company will have the opportunity to receive a stipend of $3000 during the academic year program and $4500 during the summer program.
We are asking you to refer eligible student candidates by encouraging them to apply and providing a recommendation. Faculty/Staff Recommendation Form (PDF Download)
The program looks for students of high academic achievement who have skills to offer a high-tech company. Some of the requests include students who have strong decision-making skills, the ability to work with little supervision, are able to multi-task and have solid communication skills.
We are also asking you to refer eligible start-up companies to participate in this program. Please refer them to this website or to Kirk Smiley at smileyak@purdue.edu or by calling (765) 496-1830.
The Interns for Indiana is happy to provide more information to your department and students on the program through information sessions or materials. Please contact the program for more information.
