Removal of lead can be dangerous. For this reason, only workers trained to safely remove lead should attempt such a job. Lead abatement professionals should be well-trained, equipped with the proper safety equipment, and their blood tested regularly to monitor their lead levels.
Contact your local health department for a list of contractors that do lead abatement. If they can not provide you with a list, you may be able to find contactors in your area by looking under lead or asbestos in the phone book.
