EPA Policies for Class V Operators

EPA regulations regarding Class V injection wells are now being updated. The actual requirements in effect may vary from state to state. Some states have primacy; in others, the USEPA runs the state's Class V program under direct implementation. (See the section titled "An Overview of Injection Wells", for more information about primacy status).

The primary EPA regulations relative to Class V shallow injection wells can be categorized into prohibition of unauthorized injection, definitions, Class V wells, inventory requirements, and prohibition of fluid movement into USDWs.
