Contamination Pathways
Determining the threat to health and the environment from hazardous waste is a major unsolved problem. Some existing hazardous waste disposal sites are known to pose a danger to human health and the environment. Other sites have not yet been investigated; therefore, the magnitude of the problem remains unknown.

Pathways into the body Potential harmful effects also may arise from air or water contamination resulting from improper individual or corporate disposal of toxic substances. Solutions to these situations are found in controlling the contaminants, cleanup and monitoring of existing problems; and most of all, supporting responsible action.
