DAY 1
President France Cordňva will kick-off the 2nd Annual Company Fund Raising Boot Camp which will be held at the Burton Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship on October 8th and 9th, 2007. The event is sponsored by Lonergan Partners, Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, and Purdue Research Foundation.
The purpose of the boot camp is to educate Purdue faculty, staff and students about company formation and, in particular, the venture capital world from the Silicon Valley perspective.
Key topics that will be covered include company formation, the importance of human capital, selling your idea, sources of capital, and company valuation. Bill Oesterle, Purdue trustee and co-founder & CEO of Angie’s List, will address the theme of this year’s event – Real World Advice for Starting a Company. A panel session with winners from last year will round out the discussion on Day 1.
DAY 2
Faculty, staff and students who would like to learn about investment presentation skills are encouraged to attend the morning presentation from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM. This interactive session will be led by Steve Brown who is responsible for one-third of the start-ups generated at MIT. He will explain how to make the most of your time in front of potential investors including how to tailor your talk to your audience and important details you don't want to forget.
The remainder of Day 2 is only for those who have opted to participate in the company coaching sessions. To be eligible, participants should have either formed or be in the process of forming a company and must be Purdue faculty/staff and/or licensing Purdue technology. The Company Fund Raising Boot Camp will pair these emerging companies with coaches who will help them refine a 15 minute presentation that will be reviewed by an outside panel on March 14th, 2008. Companies selected by the panel will earn a trip, sponsored by Lonergan Partners, where they will present to Silicon Valley investors during the week of May 12th, 2008.
Those companies interested in participating in the coaching sessions on October 9th should reflect that choice in the registration area below. The number of coaching session slots is limited so participation will be subject to availability and company review. |
