RCHE's advisory committee provides the center with insight into national priorities, trends, research opportunities and more. The center is pleased to have the following individuals serving on the advisory committee:
W. Dale Compton is the Lillian M. Gilbreth Distinguished Professor of Industrial Engineering Emeritus at Purdue University. He served as a research scientist with the U. S. Naval Research Laboratory (1955-1961), Vice President of Research at Ford Motor Company (1973-1986), and has held numerous academic positions, including a faculty position in the department of physics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1961-1970) and director of the Coordinated Science Laboratory (1965-1970). Compton is currently serving as Home Secretary and Member of the Council for the National Academy of Engineering. He has been a member of the Governing Board of the National Research Council, Co-Chair of the joint NAE/IOM study, Building a Better Delivery System: A New Engineering/Health Care Partnership (2005), and member of the Institute of Healthcare Improvement National Advisory Committee on Pursuing Perfection. Compton earned his doctorate in physics from the University of Illinois.
Vinod Sahney is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Corporate Strategy, Planning and Business Development at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He spent 25 years at Henry Ford Health Systems in Detroit, Michigan as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. Sahney is a founding member of the Institute for Health Care Improvement (IHI) and has served as its Chairman of the Board. He is an elected member of both the Institute of Medicine and The National Academy of Engineering. He has been elected as a Fellow in both the Health Care Information and Management Systems Society and the Institute for Industrial Engineers. He has been a Visiting Professor at Harvard University Executive Programs for the past 30 years. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, and received his doctorate in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of Wisconsin.
David Zilz is Clinical Professor Emeritus, University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, and former Director of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC). As an instrumental member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, he served a term as President, two three-year terms as Treasurer, Chair of the Commission on Credentialing, and numerous council and committee leadership roles. He has received ASHP’s Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture and Board of Directors Distinguished Leadership Lecture Award, Health Systems Pharmacy award(s), the John Webb Visiting Lecture award from the Bouve College of Health Sciences School of Pharmacy, Northeastern University, and was twice named Pharmacist of the Year by the Wisconsin Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He earned his master’s degree in pharmacy administration from the University of Wisconsin.
