"Some Examples of Design under Uncertainty for Aerospace Problems"
April 1 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Birck 1001
Generally, engineers are aware of uncertainty in design efforts. Applying safety factors and/or design margins are traditional means of accounting for uncertainty, often with the hope that this is sufficient to avoid undesirable outcomes. Advances in computational power have enabled more direct handling of probabilistic responses in engineering design, and numerous approaches are available to assist with design under uncertainty. This presentation will discuss two examples of design under uncertainty for aerospace engineering design problems.
