Mellon Grand Challenge Grant Informational Event
May 1 @ 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM - Hall for Discovery Learning Research, 143
We are pleased to invite you to the launch of a $539,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation to support projects in which Liberal Arts and STEM faculty tackle “Grand Challenges” together.
The project will be launched with a two-hour discussion of proposal expectations and examples of CLA/STEM research projects. This will be an opportunity to meet faculty in other disciplines and begin to form interdisciplinary teams. The subject areas are open; we envision topics such as legal, policy, or historical aspects of nanotechnology safety, genetic-crop safety, drug development, or cyber privacy as just a few suggestions. Ethnographic studies of on-campus STEM researchers would be encouraged.
Guidelines for proposals will be discussed.
We hope that you can attend. A light lunch will be served.
Parking is available across the street from the Hall for Discovery Learning Research in the gravel lot. Please park within the barricaded spot.
If you are unable to attend the informational event but interested in participating, please contact Amber Thompson, Senior Policy Associate, email@example.com
