  • NEXTRANS 2013 Student of the Year


    EricThe NEXTRANS Center has selected Eric O'rear as its 2013 Student of the Year. In May 2008, Eric graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in applied mathematics from Florida A&M University. He entered into the doctoral program for agricultural economics at Purdue University in August of that year. In 2013, he was funded under NEXTRANS.

    Eric was nominated for the award based on his stellar academic performance and his research contributions to the areas of energy and transportation economics. Eric’s dissertation, titled “Essays on Alternative Energy Policies Affecting the U.S. Transportation System,” reveals how effective three separate transportation-based polices are in reducing GHG emissions and increasing degrees of energy security here in the U.S. He recently presented one of his papers at the 92nd Transportation Research Board meeting in Washington, D.C.

  • Partnership APPLY NOW for the Transportation Leadership Graduate Certificate

    The NEXTRANS Center has joined with other Regional University Transportation Centers to participate in the Transportation Leadership Graduate Certificate Program (TGLC).


    This distance-learning program allows participants to complete interdisciplinary coursework offered by some of the country's finest graduate transportation programs without leaving their current professions. The program is geared towards early to mid-career transportation professionals interested in advancing to management and leadership roles, as well candidates interested in transferring their skills to transportation from another industry.
