Characterization, application and development of the nanodevices and microsystems for biological applications and health monitoring. In particular, I am interested in implantable nano/microdevices for cancer therapy, biomaterial and biodegradable polymers for intelligent in situ drug delivery, and microfluidc systems for portable handheld blood analyzers with emphasis in early disease diagnosis.
Research Impact Statement:
Our research is directed towards the development of nano/microsystems for diagnostics and therapeutics application. We are developing a wireless implantable pressure monitoring systems for continuous pressure monitoring in glaucoma and cancer patient; wireless track-able dosimeters for radiation oncology, an implantable micro oxygen generator; a microfluidic system with embedded sidewall electrodes for electronic cytometers; and a handheld blood analyzer that can quickly process a drop of whole, unfractionated human peripheral blood by real-time on-chip separation of white erythrocytes, leukocytes, and thrombocytes, and further labeled optical/electrical analysis.
