Purdue Research Parks
From a vaccine that fights bird fluto nanostructured surfaces for improving artifi cial joints, many innovations that emerge from Purdue's Discovery Park fi nd their "business legs" at Purdue Research Parks. With locations across the state of Indiana - in West Lafayette, Indianapolis, Merrillville and New Albany - the 1,200-acre Purdue Research Park network is home to more than 160 companies, of which 100+ are technology-related. More than 50 of our companies are dedicated to life sciences, including publicly-traded BASi Inc. and privately-owned Cook Biotech Inc., SSCI-An Aptuit Company, Endocyte Inc. and Quadraspec Inc. By 2009, Purdue Research Parks will operate nearly 392,000 square feet of high-tech incubation space, where company growth is accelerated through award-winning business development support. Since the late 1990s, the research parks have launched nearly 60 technology ventures, including several focused on drug development, tissueengineering and medical device development.
Discovery Park at Purdue University
Discovery Park, Purdue University's on-campus initiative to bring innovation through interdisciplinary action, is changing how a 21st century university translates biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, biomedical and biofuels research into viable commercial products. The University's commercialization efforts associated with new biomedical technologies received a boost with a $100 million endowment to create Purdue's Alfred Mann Institute. Since its launch in 2001, Discovery Park has received more than $550 million in funding for sponsored research and has generated more than 40 patents. Its modern research equipment and facilities - specifi cally the Birck Nanotechnology Center and the Bindley Bioscience Center - are prompting companies to inquire about how partnering with Purdue will help them gain a competitive edge.
