    IU, Purdue establish alliance Web site; next step input from state Legislature, businesses

    WEST LAFAYETTE and BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana and Purdue universities have launched a Web site to promote an unprecedented broad-based research alliance to help the state grow its bio- and life-sciences industries, improve health, and increase the number of physicians trained in Indiana.

    New 'nano-positioners' may have atomic-scale precision

    WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Engineers have created a tiny motorized positioning device that has twice the dexterity of similar devices being developed for applications that include biological sensors and more compact, powerful computer hard drives.

  • Sen. Lugar meets with Purdue biofuels researchers, tour labs and Purdue Research Park (I)

    U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar watches as Purdue researcher Nancy Ho works in her laboratory in the A.A. Potter Engineering Center. Ho, a senior research scientist in the Laboratory for Renewable Resource Engineering and a research professor of chemical engineering, is examining genetically engineered yeast for ethanol production from organic materials. On Oct. 9, Lugar met with several agriculture and engineering faculty members and toured alternative energy research laboratories in the Food Science Building and the Birck Nanotechnology Center. Lugar later visited with executives at the Purdue Research Park-based Swift Enterprises Ltd.
