An international conference focused on the effective translation of educational research to classroom practice in STEM across higher education. Special guest speaker, Dr. Carl E. Wieman, Nobel Laureate and Associate Director for Science, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Other featured speakers include: Drs. Robert Barr, Moses Lee, John Squires, Joan Ferrini-Mundy, Michael McManus, Martin Storksdieck, Daniel Hastings, Robert McMaster and A. Dale Whittaker.

April 16, 2010 - Building Dedication - Hall for Discovery and Learning Research
The Hall for Discovery and Learning Research buidling dedication included tours, PI presentations and a Discovery Park Discovery Lecture Series event. Featured speakers were Drs. Nicholas Giordano, Lynn Bryan and Sandra Amass from Purdue University. Dr. Kathryn D. Sullivan, Director of the Battelle Center for Mathematics & Science Education Policy in the John Glenn School of Public Affairs, Ohio State University, spoke on Reaching for the Stars: Perspectives on Transforming Education.
April 15, 2010 - K-12 Open House - Hall for Discovery and Learning Research
Introducing DLRC facilities and programs to the K-12 and Purdue communities. The evening featured Chemistry demonstrations by Paul Smith, a presentation by Dr. Tom Turpin on Science on Six Legs: Using Insects to Create Interest and Understanding of Science in Young People and hands-on lesson activities from Purdue's NSF GK-12 program.
April 15, 2010 - PI Summit - Hall for Discovery and Learning Research
Keynote speaker, Dr. David Asai, Director of Precollege and Undergraduate Science Education at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The event highighted DLRC-related STEM educational research projects from across the Purdue community to identify areas of strength for future projects.
