Welcome to the Discovery Learning Center
| The Discovery Learning Center (DLC) is one of 10 interdisciplinary research centers
in Purdue University's new Discovery Park. The mission of the DLC is to advance
research that revolutionizes learning in the STEM disciplines (science, technology,
engineering, and math). Through externally funded research projects, innovative programs,
and collaborative partnerships, the DLC is committed to redesigning educational practices
and creating innovative learning environments that have immediate impacts and nurture
lifelong learning for students and citizens of a global community.
Preparing students, teachers, and lifelong learners for success
in the high-tech knowledge economy is a primary objective of the
Center. Since its inception in March of 2003, the DLC has focused
on creating, developing, and nurturing interdisciplinary research
that contributes to:

- the design of innovative educational programs,
- the development of interactive learning technologies.

10-Year Capital Plan OK'd by Trustees
with Array of Big Projects
The Board of Trustees on April 11 approved the University's $1.04
billion 10-year capital improvement plan, ... They awarded construction
contracts to build Discovery Learning Center and renovate Duhme Hall,
phase two in the ongoing Windsor Halls renovation project.

Trustees Approve Construction
Contract
The trustees also approved awarding an $18.6 million
construction contract for the Discovery Learning Center to
Kettlehut Construction Inc. of Lafayette, Ind.
The center, to be located in Discovery Park, will house
learning research labroatories to examine how people learn
and solve problems as well as develop lifelong learning abilities needed
in the work force of the future.

Undergraduate Research Program
