Powering student learning AND economic growth
The Interns for Indiana program at DLRC was an experiential learning opportunity for students that combined hands-on, meaningful internships with Indiana start-up companies and the support of a classroom community where students reflected on their internship experiences and had access to resources such as expert speakers, facilitators and activities to help them make the most of their out-of-classroom internship.
Data collected by the DLRC during the ten year development and evaluation of the Interns for Indiana Program continues to yield insight into best practices for student experiential learning programs, cognitive apprenticeship approaches to student learning, and the effects of local internships on student perceptions of the local work/life opportunities which are implemented into current and new DLRC student programs.
In 2015, administration of the Interns for Indiana program transitioned to Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship and continues to provide students with matched internships with Indiana start-up companies. If you are interested in applying to participate in the program as an internship site or intern, please visit their current site. http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/entr/Interns_for_Indiana/Overview.php
